Martha Stewart and the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries can't be wrong - you'll want to try our grits!

As seen on TV, and the ADAI web site, we offer many products - including our stone ground organic yellow grits.

Here's what www.agi.alabama.gov had to say:
McEwen & Sons Organic Grits

There is nothing more southern than a big bowl of stick to your ribs McEwen and Sons' organic grits which are made right here in Alabama! Whether you crave grits when you first wake up in the morning or savor them as your evening entrée paired with some fresh, Alabama raised shrimp,  McEwen's certified organic grits and other grains are the best in the South! Frank McEwen has been running the Coosa Valley Milling Company for 30 years and it has changed a lot since it original beginnings as a feed and supply store where farmers converted grain into feed. The McEwen’s newest addition to the business is a stone burr grist mill which transforms some of the finest corn into some of the most delicious cornmeal, polenta and organic grits you will ever taste! The McEwen’s make and sell yellow, white and blue cornmeal, as well as grits and polenta. Hearty oatmeal and healthy golden flax seed are also bagged, sealed, and sold.

The McEwen and Sons'  label pictures Frank McEwen’s sons, Frank Jr. who is 13 and Luke, who is 12. These two may be too young to run the family business, but they do contribute by raising chickens in an antibiotic hormone-free environment to be sold at their family store. The fresh eggs are gathered daily from cage free hens and their regular customers swear by the fresh, farm taste. As does one of USA’s top 5 chefs, Frank Stitt, who loyally purchases the McEwen’s boy’s eggs and serves them in his restaurants.

The McEwen products are sold in a variety of food stores in the Birmingham area such as V. Richard’s, Tria Market, several Piggly Wiggly stores and others. Of course they are also sold in the Wilsonville store which is a McEwen family treasure and you can find them as well at the Pepper Place Farmers Market. Due to the increased interest in organic products by gourmet chefs, some of Birmingham’s finest restaurants like Frank Stitt’s Highlands Bar & Grill, Bottega, and Chez Fon Fon, as well as the Hot & Hot Fish Club and Ocean, showcase the McEwen grits in their delicious dishes, as do other restaurants throughout the state. The stone burr grist mill’s strong reputation for great products is growing daily and the McEwen’s would love to share their organic products with you as well.
